Saint Augustine’s is a Mission Venture of the Anglican Diocese of Auckland, and as such we are governed by their operating procedures for ‘good church governance’. One of these procedures is our Annual General Meeting at which we celebrate the important moments of the past year, hear more of where we sense God is leading us as a church and also elect representatives to positions on the Governance Committee, as well as a Mission Venture Church Warden and Synod Representatives.

This year’s Annual General Meeting is to be held at 7pm on Wednesday 29 March at Studio 10A, 10a Morningside Drive, Morningside, Auckland 1025

Anyone is welcome to attend the AGM, but you must be registered on the Saint Augustine’s Church Roll to be eligible to vote. Registration is required annually. Please fill out the form below to register for 2023 and to RSVP your attendance.

At the 2023 AGM, we will be voting in members of the Governance Committee and on a Mission Venture Church Warden. For more information on the positions, see below. To view the 2023 Nominee profiles, please click the button.

Position Descriptions

Governance Committee Members

These members are to be key leaders in the life of and in setting the culture of Saint Augustine’s, and as such need to be people who are spiritually mature disciples of Jesus, dedicated to seeing the life and the culture of Saint Augustine flourish, and committed to helping lead in Saint Augustine’s ministry and mission by serving on a ministry team, giving financially, frequently attending services and Saint Augustine’s events and committing to praying for the life and direction of Saint Augustine’s.

There are 3–6 positions to be filled on the Governance Committee. The exact number of positions will be determined by vote during the AGM prior to voting on candidates.

Mission Venture Church Warden

As well as the above, this position supports the Ministry Team of Saint Augustine’s and provides leadership in helping the Governance Committee meet its responsibilities. They are a spokesperson for the Governance Committee to the members of the Mission Venture.

Synod Representatives

Synod representatives are elected for a 3 year term, and attend the Diocesan Synod, giving Saint Augustine’s an opportunity to speak into and help shape the life of the Diocese.  We are able to have two Synod reps attending Synod, and both positions are up for election in the 2022 AGM.  While Synod representatives are not a part of the Governance Committee, nominees for Synod Representative’s may also be nominated as Governance Committee members.

Other things you need to know

All vacant positions must be voted on at the AGM and require a simple majority, ie. 50% + 1, to pass.
